Senior Journalist

Overview

PENNEP is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Journalist to join our client's team. The Senior Journalist will play a crucial role in researching, investigating, and producing compelling stories that resonate with our audience. The ideal candidate will have a strong journalistic background, excellent writing skills, and a passion for uncovering stories that matter.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify newsworthy topics and story ideas.
• Write, edit, and proofread articles, features, and investigative reports for publication across multiple platforms.
• Develop and maintain a network of sources to gather information and insights for stories.
• Conduct interviews with key stakeholders, experts, and sources to gather first-hand information and quotes.
• Adhere to journalistic ethics and standards, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in reporting.
• Collaborate with editors, reporters, photographers, and other team members to brainstorm ideas and coordinate coverage.
• Stay up-to-date with current events, trends, and developments in relevant fields to inform story selection and content creation.
• Monitor news sources, social media, and other channels to identify emerging trends and breaking news stories.
• Work closely with editors and management to pitch ideas, develop story angles, and contribute to editorial planning.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior journalists and interns, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster their professional growth.

Required Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience working as a journalist, with a proven track record of producing high-quality, impactful journalism.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging stories under tight deadlines.
• Excellent research and investigative skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms, including content management systems, social media, and multimedia storytelling techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to upholding ethical standards in journalism.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with sources, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
• Passion for journalism and a genuine interest in informing, educating, and engaging audiences through impactful storytelling.
