Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist with a strong background in working with Drosophila melanogaster. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise in Drosophila-based research techniques, genetics, and experimental design.

This role will involve planning and executing experiments, maintaining Drosophila cultures, and contributing to ongoing projects focused on molecular biology, genetics, or functional studies.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on research using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism.
• Maintain Drosophila stocks and perform routine culturing and genetic crosses.
• Design, conduct, and analyse experiments independently.
• Handle microinjection, dissection, and phenotype screening.
• Collaborate with cross-functional research teams for project development.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Prepare reports, protocols, and presentations as needed.
  
  

Educational Experience And Requirements

• M.Sc./M.Tech/Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of direct, hands-on experience working with Drosophila melanogaster.
• Strong understanding of Drosophila genetics and maintenance protocols.
• Experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, RNAi, or CRISPR is a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with behavioural or developmental assays in Drosophila.
• Familiarity with imaging techniques (e.g., fluorescence microscopy).
• Data analysis using software like GraphPad, ImageJ, or R.
