The Research Associate (RA) will take a lead on a Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, Govt. of Gujarat funded project and do the project related work only. Its a heavily involved task and requires full dedication.

Qualification
PhD in Life Sciences with strong foundations in Ecology, Evolution, and Physiology. Fresh PhDs will be preferred. The candidate should be good in communication skills, dynamic, independent thinker, and a quick learner.

This Project Involves
- Collection of fruit flies from different locations
- Identification and maintenance of various genetic lines
- Measuring various life-history and stress traits
- Isolation of genetic material
- Functional characterisation of genes
- Editing genes
- Collection of fruit flies from orchards (across Gujarat)
- Measurements of various life-history traits
- Fairly well understanding of molecular biology techniques (insect DNA/RNA extractions, rtPCR, CRISPR/Cas9, and functional genomics)
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools
- Good in field work (independently)
