Project Engineer - Mechanical Design
Team/Division
EES EITC – Chennai/Bangalore.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design related to electrical panels or enclosures.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Position
Project Engineer - Mechanical Design
Team/Division
EES EITC – Chennai/Bangalore.
- Design mechanical layouts for electrical panels, including mounting arrangements, enclosure sizing and thermal management.
- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D cad models.
- Create GA drawings for various panel and enclosures
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., AS/NSZ, IEC, NEMA, NFPA etc).
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to optimize space and ensure proper component placement and wiring paths.
- Select appropriate materials and hardware for enclosures, mounting, and environmental protection (IP/NEMA ratings).
- Design airflow planning to prevent overheating and ensure long-term reliability.
- Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs), mechanical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Skid based electrical system concept design and detailing, working with FEA team to conduct various lifting case analysis for structural stability study
- Provide support to production and fabrication teams during prototype builds and manufacturing.
- Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design related to electrical panels or enclosures.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge Requirement:
- Proficiency in Creo software
- Experience in PLM tools like Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles and Tolerance stack up analysis.
- Understanding of electrical component layout, thermal management, and mechanical manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (AS/NZS, UL, IEC, NEMA, NFPA).
- Proficient in design calculations.
- Knowledge of Sheet metal, welding processes and experience of applying that to design.
- Knowledge of wire routing, harness design, and electromagnetic shielding.
- Exposure to design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Enthusiastic, positive minded and able to work well in an international client environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
