- Oversee the procurement of raw materials, parts, and components used in production.
- Ensure timely purchase orders and deliveries to prevent production delays.
- Work with the inventory management team to monitor stock levels and adjust procurement strategies to avoid overstocking or shortages.
- Cost Management:
- Develop cost-saving strategies and implement cost-effective procurement practices.
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and market conditions to maintain budgets.
- Continuously seek opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications required for production.
- Collaborate with the quality control and engineering teams to resolve any supplier-related quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, industry standards, and company policies.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to the supply chain, such as supply shortages, geopolitical risks, or financial instability of suppliers.
- Develop contingency plans to handle unexpected disruptions in the supply chain.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, engineering, finance, and logistics departments to align procurement strategies with production needs.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to optimize transportation and delivery schedules.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and lead times.
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management, highlighting trends, opportunities, and challenges.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of buyers or procurement specialists, providing guidance and ensuring performance meets company objectives.
- Conduct training and development programs for the procurement team to enhance skills and knowledge.
