Job Overview

The objective of Piping Engineer is to bridge the concept with reality by ensuring technical compliance of various Integrated systems. The Piping Engineer understands key business driver and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straight forward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents. S/He applies conceptual knowledge of Piping engineering, International Codes, good engineering practice and Internal standard/procedure mainly for ASU & O&G domain, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership to fulfill customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities:
• Perform FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasks.
• Perform the regular task as per project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements, including identifying risk & opportunity.
• Well verse with international Codes & Standards related to Oil & Gas and Air Separation systems, like ASME B31.3, ASCE, ANSI & API standards.
• Prepare P&ID Line List, Equipment List, Piping Specifications, and Design basis.
• Prepare detail 2D Equipment Layout in line to Plot plan, PFD & PID, Vendor data and Site interface for both green field and Brown field plant.
• Prepare the deliverable Piping document like Piping Layout, Piping BOM, Isometrics, Prefabricate spool drawing, support drawing with help of 3D software.
• Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations for pipe sizing, thickness selection, pressure and temperature drop, trunnion and reinforcement pad calculation. Further regularize the calculation through design reports and procedures.
• Prepare a list of Special Piping Items, Piping material, Valves specification and datasheets .
• Prepare interface documents like Line list, Valve list, Specialty item list, Tie in point list, Material list & Spool List.
• Prepare material requisition for field activity like Insulation BOM, Paint BOM and Inch Dia report.
• Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical queries, Tech Bid Evaluations, and Purchase Requisitions for Engineered Piping Equipment
• Review P&IDs with reference to Piping Material Specification (PMS) and Valve specification.
• Review vendor GA drawings, datasheet and catalogue ensuring suitability or provide observation/recommendation.
• Understand Pipe Stress Analysis report to adopt the recommendation during layout preparation reports.
• Provide critical pipe support loads to customer Civil/Structural and internal subordinates.
• Initiate interface with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs
• Focus on completing work within budgets
• Provide input to the Piping Subcontractor and coordinate
• Defend technical solutions and communicates these clearly with stakeholders.
• Responsible for integration of delivered components and systems into ship design in close cooperation with internal departments, supplier, regulatory bodies, and owner.
• Authorities:
• Prepare deliverable documents, Transmittal sheets and Record keeping.
• Review vendor documents & third-party vendor drawings.
• Coordinate with factory execution for troubleshooting and modification implementation.
• Task planning, Review planning, Tag closure, Internal communication and ISO documentation.
• Participate in project progress review meeting.
  
  

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but should suffice on need basis.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, having 5 to 8 years of experience as Piping Engineer/ Principal Engineer in Cryogenic / ASU/ Oil & Gas domain.
• Skid Packaging skills: Detail piping design of Field & skid-based solution for Air Separation Plant, Liquefiers, Ait Treatment plant, Chillers and Rotary equipment skids.
• Hands on experience in developing piping layout for Pump, Compressor, Turbo expander, Cooling tower, Filter, Heat Exchanger, Pipe rack, Chiller and Oil system.
• Software skills: 2D AutoCAD, 3D Modeling on Inventor/Plant 3D and Review on Design Review / Navisworks is must. Experience in CAD administration, PMS preparation will be added advantage.
• Knowledge of international piping and structure engineering codes like ASME B31.3, ANSI, API standards is required. Knowledge of Air Separation plant, LNG Handling system, Air treatment plant will be preferred.
• Digital enthusiast: Knowledge of CAD Automation, Power BI dashboard, Power query, XL macro preparation is desired.
• Verbal communication skills: Speaks clearly and persuasively to convey information effectively; actively listens to understand, asks questions as appropriate and responds well to questions.
• Written communication skills: Writes clearly and informatively, providing detailed documentation, analysis, specifications and recommendations to others.
