Who are we looking for?
Our client, a global consulting firm, is working with a leading EPC player in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) space, executing large-scale transmission tower manufacturing and deployment projects across India. As part of a focused operational excellence initiative, the client is undertaking a structured improvement programme across its manufacturing and dispatch operations.
The firm is seeking a Manufacturing Consultant, who will play a critical role in strengthening production planning, optimising fabrication and assembly-line operations, and improving bundling and dispatch accuracy. The engagement will directly impact plant productivity, execution reliability, and downstream project timelines by designing pragmatic, implementation-ready solutions in a high-intensity EPC environment.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Assess current production planning and scheduling processes, identifying improvement opportunities and digital enablement levers (SAP PP or equivalent planning tools preferred).
- Review and revalidate the tower bundling and dispatch strategy, identifying gaps in sequencing, accuracy, and coordination.
- Recommend and evaluate digital enablers (e.g., barcoding, video analytics, tracking solutions) to improve bundle integrity and dispatch planning.
- Diagnose production floor inefficiencies across job scheduling, material movement, process flow, and layout optimisation.
- Conduct a time-and-motion study (5–7 days) to identify operational bottlenecks and quick-win productivity levers.
- Prioritise initiatives with client stakeholders, design target-state solutions, and develop a structured implementation roadmap aligned to business objectives.
Skills & Qualification:
- 4–5 years of hands-on industry experience in steel fabrication and assembly-line manufacturing, preferably within an EPC or T&D environment.
- Additional 1–2 years of consulting or structured transformation experience is preferred.
- Strong exposure to production planning, shop-floor operations, dispatch planning, and manufacturing optimisation.
- Familiarity with SAP PP or equivalent production planning systems; exposure to digital manufacturing tools is a plus.
- Prior experience with large steel fabrication players (e.g., Siscol, Mero, TMU) is advantageous.
- Education: BE (Mechanical) preferred, with advanced project management or operations excellence certifications.
