Job description for an HVAC engineer designing data centers who has knowledge about cooling equipment and fire safety should include the following:
- Designing and implementing HVAC systems for data centers with experience of Approx. 7-8 Years.
- Conducting load calculations to determine how much heating and cooling power various equipment must put out in order to heat or cool spaces when needed.
- Ensuring that the HVAC system is designed to provide comfort air for the occupant and cooling air for the equipment
- Understanding different HVAC design approaches such as flooded, targeted or contained air-distribution configurations
- Identifying appropriate fire protection strategies for the particular data center based on the HVAC system configuration
- Conducting site surveys and assessments to determine the feasibility of HVAC systems
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines such as electrical and mechanical engineers
- Ensuring that the HVAC system is designed to provide cooling air for the equipment while maintaining appropriate parameters for temperature and humidity in different zones
- Designing efficient and effective data centers by maximizing HVAC efficiency and minimizing energy consumption
