Role Overview


The General Manager – Compliance will lead the compliance and regulatory risk management framework of our NBFC. The role is responsible for ensuring full adherence to RBI regulations, statutory requirements, and internal compliance standards while building a strong governance culture across the organization. The GM will serve as a key advisor to senior management and the Board on compliance matters and regulatory developments.

Key Responsibilities


Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure end-to-end compliance with RBI Master Directions, circulars, NBFC-specific guidelines, and other applicable laws.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the company’s compliance framework, policies, and SOPs.
  • Liaise with RBI, FIU, SEBI, MCA, and other regulatory authorities; prepare timely and accurate regulatory returns.
  • Maintain oversight of KYC/AML programs in line with PMLA guidelines.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and reviews; ensure timely closure of observations and deficiencies.

Risk & Internal Controls

  • Identify compliance risks across business functions (lending, collections, operations, treasury).
  • Implement monitoring mechanisms to proactively detect and mitigate risks.
  • Strengthen internal control environment in partnership with Risk, Audit, and Legal teams.

Advisory & Business Partnership

  • Advise business and functional leaders on regulatory requirements while enabling growth initiatives.
  • Review new products, policies, and business models for regulatory alignment before launch.
  • Provide guidance on customer data privacy, fair practices code, grievance redressal, and other conduct requirements.

Reporting & Escalations

  • Prepare compliance dashboards and reports for the CEO, Board, and Audit/Compliance Committees.
  • Escalate material non-compliance issues promptly to senior management/Board.
  • Ensure compliance certifications, self-assessments, and MIS are accurate and timely.

Key Requirements

  • Experience:
  • 10–12 years of total experience in NBFCs/Banks, with at least 5–7 years in a senior compliance role.
  • Proven track record of handling RBI inspections, regulatory submissions, and compliance governance.
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of RBI NBFC Master Directions, PMLA, FEMA, Companies Act, and SEBI guidelines.
  • Familiarity with digital lending regulations, outsourcing guidelines, and fair practices codes.
  • Skills:
  • Strategic mindset with ability to balance compliance and business needs.
  • Strong stakeholder management (Board, regulators, internal functions).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
