As Vanderlande is growing rapidly, we are looking for a candidate who will be a key player within the Business Finance organization FP&A team. This role is at the intersection of business finance and data analytics. We’ll give you the opportunity to

  • Work in a highly motivated, global FP&A team (located in The Netherlands, United States and India) on key deliverables and projects.
  • Work closely together with the Data & Analytics team in advancing the maturity of the Data Platform for delivery of analytical products and services to the Vanderlande organization.
  • Work within a cloud-based architecture based on Data Mesh principle (as data consumer).

What will you be doing?

In this role you will be part of the corporate FP&A team which supports Executive Leadership with management information and overall business analyses. To do so, the team leads the annual long-term planning for upcoming 5 years, yearly budget process and monthly forecasting cycle, provide guidance to local business controllers and clarifies the different business impacts. To be able to meet the growing demands of our (finance) business partners and todays and future challenges, we are actively looking for an ambitious new team member to who will report into the Director FP&A. You will analyse business performance to actively contribute to our management board decision-making process.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

As a member of the Corporate FP&A department within Business Finance team, you

  • You will be the expert on all items related to financial performance, forecasting and budgeting and, together with the FP&A team.
  • In close partnership with the BU Controlling functions, you own forecasting and budgeting topics.
  • Ensure accuracy of forecast at group level for all BU’s and enabling functions.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements providing essential information on business use cases.
  • Translate functional requirements into thorough and feasible data products, analytics solutions and dynamic dashboards.
  • Utilize Python, PySpark, SQL, or R for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Develop, test, and maintain data products, pipelines using the Azure stack and Databricks, ensuring data reliability and quality.
  • Analyze, interpret, and visualize data to drive business process optimization and fact-based decision-making.
  • Create, deploy, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI.
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis and proactively implement solutions to assess and enhance data quality and data reliability.
  • You are eager to improve yourself and strive for continuous enhancement of processes and development within the data platform.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in the analytics field and share knowledge with the team.
  • Support the preparation of the regular management reviews meetings, including management and supervisory board meetings.
  • Coaching the FP&A team members to support their development.
  • Actively and proactively participates in a variety of finance initiatives and projects, in particular supports Vanderlande’s Finance transformation journey.

Your profile

If you’re an experienced, enthusiastic, and skilled FP&A Specialist (data scientist), you will excel at

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and/or computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in Finance function and/or prior experience working as an Analytics Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Risk-based thinking, especially in fast paced changing environment.
  • An ability to think in terms of concepts and processes and the ability to translate these into daily activities.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as part of multi-geographic team.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; supported by strong communication skills.
  • This is individual contributor position thus proactivity, hands on approach and entrepreneurial attitude are necessary for this role.
  • Practical experience in writing code in Python, PySpark, SQL, or R for data retrieval and manipulation is a strong preference.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in working with Azure Stack and Databricks is required for this role.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, driven, and actively seeking opportunities for personal development and growth.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to staying updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in the data & analytics field.
  • Familiar with agile methodologies and thrives in its dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of visualization tools like Power BI or Qlik is plus.
  • Accounting qualification CA, CIMA, CIA, ACCA or similar are considered as a plus.
  • Knowledge of major ERP - SAP or JDE (previous experience with JDE is a plus).
  • Fluency in English
  • Drive to continuously improve.
