Working as part of a cross-functional team, you translate complex technical challenges into computer simulations to promote rapid, high-quality innovation across our chocolate, biscuit, gum and candy categories. You identify, define and solve complex business problems by applying broad technical knowledge and your in-depth knowledge of your technical specialty. You work collaboratively with others on the team to meet the current and future strategic demands of the business.

How You Will Contribute

You will plan, lead and manage modelling and simulation projects, working with engineers and scientists to define the complex technical challenges to be solved. As part of this process, you will define the need for data to build the simulation and work with either an internal analytical team or and external organization to collect the information required (this may require making and measuring products themselves). This role will require you to use software tools to design, build, test and implement simulations, or alternatively, to select and manage delivery through an external partner. You will ensure that simulations are validated against experimental data; report results from the simulations and work with R&D teams to ensure that learning is embedded into the business quickly to speed up innovation and optimization; Write best practice documentation from learnings discovered, and; develop simplified software tools for others to use based on the simulations. Because this is a rapidly evolving field, you will research and keep abreast of developments in relevant modelling and simulation techniques and maintain and develop simulation resources including hardware and software updates, working with IT to maintain security and back-up systems.

More About This Role

Working as part of a cross-functional team, you are an internally recognized expert in a technical area of critical importance to the RDQ function. You identify, define and solve complex modeling and simulation problems by applying broad technical knowledge and your in-depth knowledge of the technical specialty to encourage rapid, high-quality innovation across our Beverages, gum & candy and Meals (BGCM) categories. As an expert in your technical specialty in RDQ, and as such, you regularly interact with senior management and cross-functional teams to communicate the current and to forecast the future strategic demands of the business.

You will plan, lead and manage modelling and simulation projects while guiding, directing and influencing activities lead by others. This role will require you to work closely with engineers and scientists to define the complex technical challenges to be solved. You will define what data needs to be collected to build the simulations and work with an internal analytical team or external organizations to collect the information (this may require making and measuring products themselves) and use software tools to design, build, test and implement simulations, or alternatively, to select and manage delivery through an external partner. In addition, you will ensure that simulations are validated, communicate simulation results, and work with R&D teams to ensure learning is embedded into the business quickly to speed up innovation and optimization and write best-practice documentation from learnings discovered. This role will require you to develop simplified software tools for others to use based on the simulations. Because this is a rapidly changing field, you will research and keep up with developments in relevant modelling and simulation techniques. In this role, you will supervise research projects to develop additional simulation techniques or material characterization and maintain and develop simulation resources—including hardware and software updates—working with IT to maintain security and back-up systems.

Education / Certifications:

Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering or with related specialization

Experience: 3 – 5 yrs
