The significant growth in resources demand driven by the energy transition and population growth, positions Jacobs to be the partner of choice for mining and resources clients. Our Australian based Resources Hub aspires to accelerate a solutions-focused agenda concentrating on project delivery, decarbonising operations, ESG commitments and digital enablement.

The Discipline Lead for Mechanical is a key role in the India Mining and Metals Sector and has overall responsibility for the Global Delivery Centre (GDC) delivery in Mechanical and growing the depth and capabilities of this team.

This is a new role established to drive excellence in the operations of the Mining and Metals Sector that is currently integrated with the Resources Hub based in Australia, with additional future potential growth in other global and domestic markets.

Through this dynamic position, you will provide leadership in Mechanical, champion inclusion and diversity, drive project delivery for domestic and global clients, support a culture of innovation, building and managing a high performing team, and provide exceptional client service to ensuring excellence in your discipline.

Working in collaboration with the Head of Sector, Capability Lead/s, Delivery Lead and other Discipline Leads, the Mechanical Discipline Lead provides leadership and management of India’s capability to provide exceptional delivery in Mechanical. You will be responsible for your team’s delivery on multidiscipline projects to comply with Client and Jacobs expectations, standards, specifications and procedures, and specific Country standards and codes.

Through your inspirational and visionary leadership and role modelling of Jacobs core values, you will foster an inclusive and diverse culture in your team that embodies Jacobs Culture of Caring and prioritizes the health and wellbeing of your people. You will provide strategic and operational direction to your leadership team and through your exceptional strategic thinking, you will identify and drive initiatives that support Jacobs’ purpose and values.

You will be accountable for the recruitment and retention of your Team and drive various development programs within your Team to align with the business need and global gender diversity target of 404020. You will promote deep domain capability and talent growth in partnership with the Capability Lead and other Discipline Leads within the Sector and encourage the team to be engaged, resilient, adaptable and inspire them to strive for innovation while maintaining outstanding project delivery and cross-discipline coordination. You will be responsible to support career paths for your team and help team members to develop individual goals and align them with the key business objectives. One of your key focus areas will be to drive cultural alignment and champion Jacobs initiatives.

Working in partnership with the Capability Lead/s, you will be accountable for developing and fostering an ecosystem for agile career opportunities for your team, fostering digital enablement within the Sector. You will be able to develop a high performing team culture, leading by example and seen as an acceptable and inspirational leader.

You will provide leadership to the growing sector, being passionate about project delivery excellence for both domestic and global projects. You will work with the ANZ Resource Hub Leaders to set clear direction and provide a strong role model regarding client focus and project delivery. You will be ultimately accountable for the performance of your team and central to ensuring we create lasting and sustainable value for our shareholders.

15 years experience in relevant discipline and > 5 years in a similar role managing engineering design teams on projects of all scales and complexities

Relevant experience in ANZ Resources market projects highly desirable

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Strong planning & organizational skills - prioritizing, task and resource allocation, scheduling

Delegating Responsibility – defines parameters, provides support & stays informed

Decision making – identifies issues, problems and opportunities & chooses appropriate action
