We are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering for AI Enablement to lead the charge in building platforms and tools that democratize data through cutting-edge AI capabilities. This role is laser-focused on enabling “data-to-insight” journeys for non-technical users—bringing innovations like multi-agent AI systems, natural language interfaces, and context-aware data exploration to life.

Unlike traditional ML platform roles, this is not about training models for the enterprise—it’s about operationalizing AI within the data platform to make data understandable, discoverable, and usable by all.

Responsibilities

• Reimagine Data Access: Lead the engineering of AI-powered features that allow users to “talk to their data” via intelligent agents and natural language interfaces.
• Empower Every Ford Team: Build systems that transform structured and unstructured enterprise data into insights—removing barriers for non-technical teams across domains like product development, marketing, supply chain, and more.
• Lead with Technical Depth: Guide a high-performing team of engineers in building scalable, secure, and intelligent platform capabilities that redefine how data is consumed across the company.
• Leverage Multi-Agent AI Systems: Design and operationalize collaborative agents that can interpret user questions, identify relevant datasets, generate analysis, and surface insights—all within Ford’s secure enterprise environment.
• Collaborate with Purpose: Partner across the data platform ecosystem—data governance, metadata, provisioning, quality, and access control—to deliver seamless, AI-enabled experiences that are aligned with Ford’s enterprise standards and strategy.
  
  
  

Innovate Responsibly: Ensure ethical, explainable, and bias-aware AI solutions that align with regulatory and privacy requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years building data or AI-centric platforms and solutions at scale.
• Deep expertise in building large-scale distributed systems, API-driven architectures, and cloud-native platforms (GCP preferred).
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, vector databases, agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Haystack, Semantic Kernel), and orchestration engines.
• Proven ability to lead and grow high-performing engineering teams with a strong focus on impact, velocity, and quality.
• Strong product mindset—you can work closely with product managers and user researchers to create features people love and need.
• Passion for data accessibility, digital equity, and user-centric platform design.
  
  
  

Experience in a regulated, enterprise-grade environment, with an understanding of security, compliance, and governance.
