Business Intelligence Developer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to lead a critical migration initiative from a MSSQL/MicroStrategy environment to a modern analytics platform built on Databricks, dbt, and Power BI. This transformational role will shape the organization’s analytics infrastructure, enabling data-driven decision-making across business units.

Key Responsibilities:

Migration Leadership

• Design and execute migration strategy from MSSQL and MicroStrategy to Databricks, dbt, and Power BI.
• Assess existing BI reports, dashboards, and data models to prioritize migration tasks.
• Rebuild and optimize MicroStrategy reports and dashboards in Power BI with feature parity and improved performance.
• Translate SQL-based transformations into dbt models following best practices.
• Establish data quality validation processes to ensure migration accuracy.
  
  

Technical Development

• Develop scalable data models and transformation pipelines using dbt on Databricks.
• Create interactive, visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Optimize SQL queries and Spark transformations for performance on Databricks.
• Implement version control, testing, and CI/CD for analytics code.
• Build reusable data marts and semantic layers for self-service analytics.
  
  

Collaboration & Documentation

• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Document migration processes, data lineage, and technical architecture.
• Train team members and end-users on new BI tools and capabilities.
• Establish best practices and governance standards for the new platform.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

Technical Expertise

• 5+ years of BI development experience delivering enterprise analytics solutions.
• Strong MicroStrategy experience (report development, dashboards, platform administration).
• Advanced SQL skills with experience in MSSQL Server and 5query optimization.
• Expertise in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, report design).
• Proficiency in dbt, including transformations, testing, and documentation.
• Databricks/Spark experience or strong willingness to learn cloud-based platforms.
  
  

Migration Experience

• Proven experience with large-scale BI platform migrations or transformations.
• Ability to assess legacy systems and design modern architecture.
• Experience with data validation and reconciliation during migrations.
  
  

Additional Skills

• Knowledge of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure cloud services (ADF, Azure SQL).
• Knowledge of Python for data processing and automation.
• Certifications in Power BI, Databricks, or dbt.
• Experience with agile project methodology.
• Background in data architecture or data engineering.
