We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President - OPERATIONS RISK AND CONTROL

Principal Responsibilities
- Working effectively with other Risk and Control teams and influencing Control Owners/Operators in collaboration with onshore Risk functions to complete key control monitoring programmes and enabling them to articulate the risk profile of their process, promoting accountable risk and control decision-making. Along with Working with the Head of Ops Risk for Underwriting & Innovation and the team to implement better end to end control design.
- Accountable to help report and escalate operational and reputational risks plus potential & operational losses in line with policy. Additionally, introduce robust governance within the Underwriting Services ops team to ensure visibility of all issues and actions.
- Independently collect and validate operational risk data for further analysis and usage; Contribute to the preparation of periodic risk reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Additionally, support the development and execution of a strategy for testing the effectiveness of controls that provides a complete, comprehensive and robust material for analysis and use by the Risk Steward to execute proper oversight over the function.
- Provide support in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, guidelines and processes to identify, measure, monitor, mitigate and report operational risk. Analyzing root cause and working with business operations and technology teams to implement remediation measures
- Contribute to process and ‘deep dive’ reviews of specific business process or risk areas; support the review and approval process over third party assessment review of vendors; oversee the RPA risk universe and lead the activities in balancing risk and change in transformation.
- Provide support in facilitating risk training to promote a risk culture including the development and maintenance of eLearning modules; maintain knowledge of emerging best practices and other international standards on risk management (Basel model). Along with executing the Incident Management policy and adhere to the formal logging of incidents where required and develop and monitor risk remediation program activities and actions to ensure progress and path to green
- Providing controls consultancy, advice and guidance to stakeholders to ensure that new developments / changes have the required controls built in from commencement of activity.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience/knowledge of risk management framework, audit roles requiring management of diverse risk types with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Advance training and/or qualification would be an advantage.
- Understanding of risk management principles, methodologies and tools, and governance principles and activities.
- Understanding of operational risk characteristics example development of monitoring tools including reports, risk indicators and risk assessments.
- Significant technical knowledge of risk platforms and infrastructure.
- Proven ability to communicate, negotiate, challenge and influence effectively, with experience of building strong relationships with cross functional senior management and navigating HSBC matrix to improve management.
- Exposure to policies, processes and procedures across multiple markets.
- An understanding of the complexity of Underwriting Services structure and how this connects with the Onshore environment.
- Thoroughness and ability to work independently and distil complex, ambiguous information to create insights for leaders.
