Job Summary
The IP Network Routing & Switching Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level LAN/WAN infrastructure. This role ensures optimal network performance, security, and scalability by managing routers, switches, and associated protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
Design and deploy routing and switching infrastructure based on business needs
Configure and install routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.
Collaborate with network architects and IT teams to develop scalable solutions.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Monitor network performance and proactively resolve issues related to routing and switching.
Diagnose and troubleshoot routing errors, switch malfunctions, and connectivity issues.
Provide remote support during installations and outages.
Protocol & Configuration Management
Optimize routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations including VLANs, STP, and IP addressing.
Administer firewall and access control settings in line with security policies
Security & Compliance
Implement security measures in routing and switching protocols to safeguard network integrity.
Conduct audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations and troubleshooting procedures
Report network operational status and performance metrics to stakeholders
Project & Vendor Coordination
Plan and execute network expansion projects, including hardware upgrades.
Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support of networking equipment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT.
Proven experience in enterprise networking environments.
Strong knowledge of Cisco technologies (Catalyst, Nexus), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
Hands-on experience with network configuration and troubleshooting.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly preferred
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with Cisco routers ASR 9XX, ASR 9010, ASR 9912, SD-WAN, Alcatel Lucent PSS 32, PSS 4, configuration & troubleshooting routers
Experience working with multiple clients.
