A security guard (or security officer) is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets by monitoring premises, preventing unauthorized access, and responding to emergencies. Their role combines vigilance, enforcement of rules, and quick response to incidents.

- Audit Preparation Review audit schedules, understand compliance requirements, and prepare necessary checklists and documentation.
- Access Control Monitoring Verify that entry/exit logs, visitor records, and employee access align with security protocols.
- Physical Security Inspection Conduct routine checks of premises, equipment, and restricted areas to ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Incident Reporting Document and escalate any breaches, irregularities, or non-compliance issues discovered during audits.
- Compliance Verification Ensure that fire safety, CCTV coverage, alarm systems, and emergency procedures meet mandatory audit requirements.
- Coordination with Authorities Liaise with internal audit teams, external regulators, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Training & Awareness Educate staff on compliance standards, emergency protocols, and audit readiness.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO, OSHA, local laws).
- Physical fitness and alertness for on-ground inspections.
- Integrity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Accuracy and completeness of audit reports.
- Number of compliance issues identified and resolved.
- Timeliness in conducting scheduled audits.
- Effectiveness in preventing breaches or incidents.
