Senior Software Testing Engineer

Job Description

Experience: 4–6 Years Job Summary We are seeking a Linux QA Engineer with experience in IoT product validation and system testing. The candidate will be responsible for validating Embedded Linux-based IoT devices and gateways, executing test strategies, performing protocol analysis, identifying defects, and ensuring product quality across device, gateway, cloud, and mobile ecosystems. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test reports for Linux and IoT products.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, interoperability, and system-level testing.
• Validate communication protocols such as MQTT, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, Zigbee, Matter, Thread, BLE, and Wi-Fi.
• Hands on experience in Python programming.
• Hands-on experience in virtual device simulation, hardware emulation, and software-based testing environments to validate embedded firmware and IoT device functionality prior to hardware availability.
• Analyze network traffic and protocol behavior using tools such as Wireshark and packet sniffers.
• Validate device commissioning, provisioning, OTA firmware updates, and cloud connectivity.
• Perform end-to-end validation of device, gateway, cloud, and mobile application interactions.
• Develop Shell/Bash scripts for test automation, log collection, and validation activities.
• Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with development teams for issue resolution.
• Validate security features including authentication, encryption, certificate management, and secure communication.
• Participate in certification and compliance testing activities.
• Maintain test environments, automation frameworks, and validation setups. Required Skills
• Good understanding of Linux systems and architecture.
• Strong Linux command-line proficiency and Shell Scripting (Bash/Sh).
• Experience in testing and validation of Linux or IoT products.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, TLS/SSL).
• Experience using Wireshark, tcpdump, and other protocol analysis tools.
• Understanding of IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, Zigbee, Matter, Thread, BLE, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience in log analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation.
• Knowledge of test methodologies including functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
• Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with Git and test management tools. Preferred Skills
• Experience in Smart Home, Building Automation, Energy Management, or Industrial IoT domains.
• Experience validating Zigbee, Matter, Thread, BLE, or Wi‑Fi enabled devices.
• Knowledge of Python or Shell scripting for test automation.
• Experience with OTA validation, device onboarding, and commissioning workflows.
• Understanding of cloud-based IoT platforms and device management solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
• Familiarity with certification testing (Wi-Fi Alliance, Zigbee, Matter, Bluetooth SIG, etc.).
• Knowledge of security concepts including TLS, certificates, secure boot, and encryption mechanisms. Education
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field
