Project Coordinator-New Product Development

Job Description

• As a Project Coordinator-NPD, the role is responsible for supporting the successful execution of New Product Development (NPD) projects by ensuring adherence to Oceaneering’s NPD Framework, achieving project objectives within defined reliability, schedule, and cost parameters.
• This role demands a proactive and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support and manage NPD projects across all lifecycle stages including R&D, development, deployment and release. The role emphasizes structured project coordination, requirements tracking, documentation management, and stage-gate compliance within engineering-driven environments.
• Our hybrid/remote work model offers flexibility to work from home, allowing you to balance personal and professional life. Please note that the first 12 months will require work from the office.
• Ability to travel domestically and overseas up to 20% of the year.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of NPD projects in alignment with Stage-Gate (NPD) framework and project governance requirements
• Assist Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and controlling NPD project activities across all lifecycle phases
• Coordinate among cross-functional teams such as engineering, procurement, reliability, manufacturing, and testing to ensure timely delivery of project milestones
• Maintain and manage project documentation including requirements matrices, design review records, risk registers, validation plans, and stage-gate deliverables
• Track project schedules, dependencies, and milestones, JIRA boards; identify risks and support mitigation planning
• Support stage-gate reviews by compiling documentation, ensuring readiness, and following up on action closures
• Administer and maintain project trackers including action/MOM logs, risk registers, issue trackers, and change requests
• Assist in capturing and maintaining system and subsystem requirements and ensure traceability across design and validation phases
• Prepare and maintain project reports, dashboards, KPI metrics, and status updates for stakeholders
• Assist in budgeting, cost tracking, and resource utilization monitoring for assigned NPD projects
• Organize and coordinate project meetings, technical reviews, and workshops; document MOMs and action items
• Support project data management and maintain centralized repositories in tools such as SharePoint or PLM systems
• Facilitate communication between global teams and support collaboration across regions
• Understand project risks and support the team in developing mitigation and contingency plans
• Provide support in project audits, documentation reviews, and compliance with organizational processes
  
  

Required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering / technology / project management (preferred in Mechanical or allied branch)
• Industrial experience of 5 years, with minimum 3 years’ experience in NPD project coordination/management related activities.
  
  

DESIRED

• Experience working in New Product Development (NPD) or Stage-Gate environments
• Working knowledge of MS Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MSP, JIRA
• Understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
• Professional certification such as CAPM, PMP (preferred but not mandatory)
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of project management and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, JIRA etc.)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with good Excel skills
• Understanding engineering documentation, requirements management, and NPD lifecycle processes
• Ability to effectively coordinate and support cross-functional project teams
• Strong communication skills with ability to engage with global stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
• High attention to detail and structured approach to documentation and tracking
• Self-driven with a positive and proactive attitude
