Lead Engineer - Design

Job Description:

Position: Senior Design Engineer / Lead Engineer

Location: Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

As a Senior Design Engineer / Lead Engineer, working for Terex Recycle System (TRS), the team member will be responsible for the New Product Development, Continuous product improvement and Cost reductions on the TRS product line and will be collaborating with internal customer like Product management, Manufacturing, Operations, Sourcing/Purchasing, Quality and Aftermarket team and with suppliers, external testing and validation companies for the product and process development and product sustenance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products (NPPD/NPI process) and modifications to existing products.

• Develop concepts, design, and solutions by coordinating with Product management team, Sales and Marketing, Suppliers, and perform feasibility study of components/systems.

• Follow Group standards of in the areas of QFD, DFMEA, design-for-manufacture, Design-for-Assembly, Prototype development and field testing

• Ensure current and new products meet internal & External regulatory standards and performance levels specified for safety, function, and reliability

• Support distributors through the preparation of sales layouts, specifications, and project pricing

• Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers

• Perform functional validation of equipment with site visits/surveys and gathering functional / application data

• Travels to Customer sites (International and domestic) to understand and resolve engineering issues,

or to field-trial locations to evaluate a new product.

• Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; apply latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative.

• Produce full manufacturing specification package including Engineering BOMs.

• Effectively manage engineering change process.

• Planning and managing projects.

• Document all phases of design and development.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an accredited Mechanical Engineering curriculum.

• 8 -12 years of relevant work experience in C&D Recycle, Crushing and Screening Industry / Heavy Engineering Equipment design.

• Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally CREO, and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems

• Experience working with the hydraulic systems.

• Must have a good mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Problem resolution / trouble shooting.

• Keen in learning and enhancing technical skills.

• Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines.

• Experience in using Creo simulate/Ansys is an added advantage.

• Knowledge on Vibrations is an added advantage
