The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics Department at Gartnavel Hospital.

Key responsibilities include outpatient clinic reception duties, the preparation of clinic lists, including scanning relevant documents. A sound working knowledge and understanding of clinical systems is desirable, i.e. TrakCare and Clinical Portal. Experience in working under pressure and dealing with patients, both face to face and by telephone, in a calm and courteous manner is essential.

This role offers a sound knowledge of the Orthopaedic department should further progression be desired.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This post is a fixed-term or secondment post for 12 months, working 36 hours per week.

The role is based at Gartnavel General Hospital, 1053 Gt Western Rd, Glasgow, G12 0YN.

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday, 8.00-4.00.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • National 4 or Level 1 qualification in 3 subjects, including English or equivalent.
  • General administration and office experience/previous clerical experience desirable
  • Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
  • Previous reception experience desirable
  • Prior experience of using a Patient Management System would be desirable however training will be provided.
  • Good organisational skills, having the ability to organise, prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and having the ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals.
  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Self motivated.
  • Ability to work flexibly and use own initiative.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and work in a pressurised environment.
