The Opportunity:

Calculate the taxes a company owes and process and file tax returns. Analyze a company's tax policies to make sure they are in compliance with the law. Understand local, state, and federal tax laws and stay up to date on changes to laws. Oversee preparation for and the conducting of audits.

Avantor is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking, and experienced Analyst - Indirect Tax - EU. As a skilled and visionary Analyst - Indirect Tax - EU, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the preparation for and the conducting of audits.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our office. You will have to Work independently under close supervision, researches and analyzes the fiscal criteria applicable to company's operation. Keeps contact with tax advisors and proposes improvements on this matter. Calculate the taxes a company owes and process and file tax returns. Analyze a company's tax policies to make sure they are in compliance with the law. Understand local, state, and federal tax laws and stay up to date on changes to laws.

What we're looking for

  • Education:Business degree and qualified Accountant
  • Experience: 2-5 years of overall experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two to three years proven experience in a similar role in a multinational or a large company environment (or qualified by experience in a similar role) having subsidiaries in Europe with VAT and other indirect taxes requirements,
    • Microsoft Office knowledge, specifically Excel is necessary and SAP knowledge is mandatory.
    • Proven experience of working through complex financial issues with little direction

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Responsible for monthly or quarterly preparations of indirect taxes and similar local requirements (such as VAT, SAF-T, Customs Duties, Alcohol/Ethanol taxes and other statistics filling, precise list to be defined by EU country),
  • Fillings the local report with competent corporation offices,
  • Fillings in accordance with local GAAP including mapping and bridge calculation,
  • Regular controls if reports are in line with latest legal changes requirements,
  • Correspondence with the corporation office for any additional queries on the declarations,
  • Indirect tax calendar preparation and monitoring,
  • Assist with the external audit process and internal audit process,
  • Being the finance contact for the local organizations for indirect taxes declarations,
  • Continuously analyzes ongoing processes within areas of responsibility to identify and implement process improvements to make the processes more efficient and enhance the data integrity of the financial position of the company and its related business units.
  • Support for new acquisitions and take-over of new entities,
  • Feedback to and where necessary involvement in the development of improved financial reporting systems on an ongoing basis,
  • Engagement to drive continuous standardization and process improvement.
  • Awareness of and commitment to the Avantor Business System (ABS) as a means of driving continuous improvement in processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP, IFRS) and corporate accounting policies and procedures is necessary. This is generally acquired through the educational process, with practical application gained through work experience.

  • Self-starter with high levels of professional integrity
  • Enthusiastic and energetic with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent team player with the ability to build working relationships between and across business teams.

  • Good understanding of financial reporting links to business challenges and opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
