The Supplier Quality Inspector demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives (ability to meet EN ISO 9712 standard requirements). In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

  • Fully involved in OTR process (Order to delivery oriented)
  • Manage supplier change and deviation request
  • Perform Inspection / Expediting / Surveillance @ supplier
  • Lead Databook completion

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

Skills

  • Drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements
  • Two-in Team with Supplier Quality engineer from region and at Hydro level from Order to Delivery oriented fully accountable of inspection and expediting
  • Manage panel of supplier up to 30 suppliers (could be more for regional commodity)

Supplier Qualification – Product Qualification

  • Manage supplier Inspection activities to ensure the quality of assigned Commodity components.
  • Be the technical focal point to coordinate Sourcing, Design & Materials Management functions while interfacing with suppliers.
  • Drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to assure product/process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Supervise Manufacturing according to MPP (Q record on time; Quality data book follow up; complete Manufacturing process control report)
  • Manage inspection to be performed along part manufacturing (including Customer inspection)
  • Ensure the inspections are performed according to MPP/ Design requirements and issue the respective inspection and test reports;
  • Ensure the inspection & test records against the MPP requirement and send them to the data book as soon as the inspection and tests is performed and finished.
  • Review preliminary documents and built the product quality data book. Prepare product quality documents focus on customer requirement

Supplier Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement of supplier's quality, cycle, and delivery performance
  • Manage supplier non-conformance and Deviation activities (SDR / NCR) ; identify and drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

Measurement

  • On time Inspection (%)
  • Control on Escape Defect Level
  • Right First Time in Product & Databook submission (% of Accuracy)
  • Number of Supplier audit
  • Supplier Action plan / Mitigation plan progress
  • Number of Stop the line / Quality alert

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from accredited university or college in electrical or mechanical fields . Master is preferable.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience (Minimum 2 years of experience for EN ISO 9712 requirement) in quality and manufacturing or engineering. Preferably in Welding and NDT.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required (>40%)

Desirable

  • Audit certification
  • Welding / NDT certification
  • Six sigma trained and certified or equivalent quality certification.
  • Additional languages skills would be a plus (Spanish, French…)
  • Office software (Excel, Power Point…)
  • Quality system - ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of international standard (such as ASME/ISO/ EN e.g).
