Job Purpose


The role of the Student Visa Support Officer will be required to understand and maintain up to date knowledge of the Australian Government student visa requirements, such as Genuine Student (GS) requirements and undertake the relevant checks of students within the region.


Main Duties and responsibilities


  • Review and assess applicants' Genuine Student (GS) submissions in line with provider assessment criteria and processes
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with agents to enhance their understanding of visa requirements, provide ongoing support, and ensure successful student visa outcomes
  • Follow up to obtain any missing or additional documents from students or agents necessary for mandatory assessments
  • To monitor student route visa application decisions, highlighting any discernible patterns, trends or concerns at an early stage
  • To monitor visa outcomes and follow-up with students, agents, and the global recruitment team within agreed service levels
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date entry of student application and visa information within the student management system
  • Effectively plan and manage your workload to consistently meet SLA targets, including daily prioritization of tasks
  • Conduct and vet student interviews in order to ascertain credibility and study intent
  • Upload supporting documents and maintain assessment records
  • Produce reports as needed regarding application status and student updates
  • Respond to all email inquiries within agreed timeframes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act, National Code, and Student Visa Regulations


Person Specification


Legal status

  • Eligibility to live and work in India
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent.


Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification and\or equivalent professional experiences
  • A second language


Experience and knowledge

  • Significant experience with the Australian education sector
  • Knowledge of ESOS Act and National Code of Practice is highly regarded.


Skills and abilities

  • Experience of working effectively in a high pressure, high volume environment.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and manage activities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with the use of student management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with proven ability to work with staff at all levels.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to foster a cooperative work environment within internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to exercise judgement and initiative in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to adhere to and disseminate policies and procedures.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, external agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the need for providing proactive and high-level customer service
  • Experience in understanding complex and detailed policies and procedures
  • Experience of working with colleagues across multiple locations


Personal Qualities

  • Highly developed communication and personal skills, including the ability to liaise with and establish effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders from a range of backgrounds and cultures
