Staff Software Engineer

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Staff Engineer based in Pune with a proven background in building high scale applications and data processing pipelines to work on building the Real-time Reporting & Analytics pipeline at Zendesk.

As a Staff Engineer, you would be a technical leader within the organisation working towards delivering the Realtime Reporting and Analytics vision at Zendesk.

The ideal candidate has experience in building large-scale cloud applications preferably in a SaaS environment and is skilled in real-time data pipelines, stream processing and OLAP databases. You should have successfully led technical initiatives, delivered large scale production workloads.

Note:: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in our Pune office.

What You'll Be Doing

• Be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the Real-time Reporting platform at Zendesk.
• Work collaboratively with a small, focused and self-organising team to deliver high impact outcomes for Zendesk customers.
• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements by engaging effectively with business owners and stakeholders
• Lead technical initiatives, ensuring delivery of scalable and robust solutions
  
  

What you bring to the role

• 7+ years experience working on high scale applications and data processing pipelines.
• Have a proven experience in both Software Engineering and Data Engineering with a focus on delivering large-scale distributed and high quality applications.
• Hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines, stream processing and OLAP databases (e.g ClickHouse, Snowflake, Kafka, ElasticSearch etc)
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and mentor junior engineers
• Ability to design scalable and robust data architectures for real-time analytics.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to collaborate with teams across multiple time zones globally.
• Strong proficiency in Java is preferred and hands-on experience with technologies like AWS, Clickhouse, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes
  
  

Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. Please refer to the location posted on the requisition for where this role is based.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
