Responsibilities
A site supervisor's primary responsibility is to manage construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. They are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Managing workers
- Overseeing construction workers and subcontractors, delegating tasks, and ensuring they have the resources they need to complete their work
- Ensuring safety
- Implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring workers are wearing the appropriate protective equipment
- Managing materials
- Ordering and delivering construction materials, and ensuring the construction crew doesn't run out
- Managing schedules
- Creating work schedules and organizing staff
- Reviewing plans
- Checking building plans and blueprints to ensure they meet building regulations
- Monitoring progress
- Keeping track of the project's progress, identifying issues, and addressing them
- Communicating
- Liaising with clients, architects, and engineers, and attending site management meetings
- Completing reports
- Providing regular reports to the site manager or construction manager
