Senior Engineer - Electrical

What You’ll Do

We are looking for motivated professionals with strong skills to execute engineering projects / solutions for Low & Medium voltage power distribution products like.Voltage regulatros & 3ph & 1ph Transformers. Support development of core and coil design rules, optimization and design automation, and manufacturing processes to continue the evolution of cores and coils to support Eaton’s industry leading capabilities.

• Collaborate with global engineering teams to understand customer requirements, identify product portfolio gaps, and develop proposals to address those gaps effectively.
• Propose innovative ideas annually for Cost out , New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects.
• Prepare and manage Core/coil design - main coil, reactor, parts for orders, cost savings estimates, project scope, Technical expert for group - design reviews, schematics, connections, lead sizing, nameplates, component sizing and selection, etc & Cost out / design improvement ideas
• Provide technical support and maintain liaison with manufacturing regarding technical manufacturing problems relating to design, specifications and functional performance. When appropriate, authorize the deviations.
• Establish robust technical frameworks to accurately predict performance parameters during the design phase, promoting a “first time-right” design philosophy.
• Actively participate in Global Product Line (GPL) forums, contributing to strategic business decisions and product roadmaps.
• Complete design and information requests for Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales according to the procedures established by the business
• Possess deep expertise in transformer design engineering processes and lifecycle management, equivalent to subject matter expert level in key technical areas.
• Provide design of improved products to address performance improvements, simplify manufacturing and reduce costs consistent with requirements and limitations imposed by tooling, materials, and manufacturing processes..
• Identify opportunities within products and/or applications to increase quality, decrease costs and increase value. Knowledge of how to test and validate coil design changes.
• Participate in new product development teams representing quality system requirements, national standards, and International Quality system standards such as ISO-9001, IEC Standards, NEMA, ANSII, and ASTM as assigned. In that capacity, approve new product development authorizations as the Quality Assurance team representative.
  
  
  

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree / Master degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 7-9 years of experience in the Power distirbution Transformer & Voltage Regulator industry.

Proven hands-on experience in the design and development of distribution transformers is essential.

Previous experience designing and optimizing transformer cores and coils ,Power system analysis, distribution system knowledge, insulation systems for medium voltage, magnetics etc.

• 7+years experience in design, development and/or product engineering. Knowledge of product and product application, manufacturing and test methods. Knowledge of required test and application standards.
• Proven experience in the design and development of oil-filled distribution transformers up to 20 MVA, 36 kV class. Understand complex core/coil construction requirements, rules, and methods and use the knowledge to develop new rules and designs.
• Exposure to dry-type & oil filled transformer design is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on experience in the design and development of amorphous metal core distribution transformers.
• Expertise in wound core transformer design and development.
• Familiarity with certification testing procedures at third-party laboratories.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose performance issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Experience in Design of Special type application Transformer like Solar & Wind etc.
• Ability to demonstrate deep technical knowledge and practical experience in transformer engineering.
• Self-driven and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
• Capable of leading and mentoring teams, managing cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring timely project execution.
• Comfortable working in a global development environment, overcoming challenges to meet schedule and quality requirements.
• Understand the various components that are needed in the Product design. Continuously expand knowledge of the products.

• Sound technical knowledge in electromechanical products like Medium Voltage Regulator, Distribution Transformers etc.
• Strong mechanical technical knowledge on materials, Structural, Thermal calculations and physical testing
• Understanding of relevant industry standards and how they apply to the product
