Purpose of the Position :
The position ensures that -
- The New Innovation Growth Areas of Evonik are uniformly supported through fact-based analyses of new or adjacent technologies and markets, as well as independent recommendations derived from them.
- Internal stakeholders are supported in the project-related search, identification, and evaluation of suitable external industrial partners.
- External technology offerings (e.g. M&A, investment or technology opportunities, etc.) are analyzed in a timely manner and corresponding independent recommendations are provided.
- Spearheads project-related technology and market analyses (conducts literature and patent landscape research, draws fact-based conclusions, validates findings with internal/external experts, provides independent recommendations, documents work in the form of detailed technology and market roadmaps).
- Generates detailed company profiles of suitable innovation partners and contextualizes them within the strategic framework of the New Innovation Growth Areas.
- Identifies and analyzes suitable external partners (startups, SMEs, companies) in consultation with Evonik's internal stakeholders.
- Documents results (technology/market evaluations and roadmaps, company profiles, meeting minutes, etc.) that are both comprehensive and easy to understand.
- Completed natural science degree (PhD in Chemistry [preferred], Physics, Biology or related) - with honors/distinction.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the field of research & development, innovation, new business development, or patent law.
- Proficient in conducting patent and scientific literature searches and analyses.
- First experiences in leading interdisciplinary teams without disciplinary responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex issues, analyze complex information, draw conclusions, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Skilled in creating visually appealing and effective presentations using MS PowerPoint.
- Strong interest in new technologies and markets, as well as their financial and strategic implications.
- Strong familiarity with Evonik’s technology platforms and markets.
- Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English, with additional foreign language skills being an advantage.
