Microsoft Azure is a global cloud platform offering on-demand infrastructure and services for building, hosting, and running applications at scale. At its core of this ecosystem is Azure Compute, which manages the lifecycle of millions of physical hosts, containers and virtual machines across Microsoft data centers worldwide.

Our team - Pilotfish Core, within Azure Compute is responsible for building large-scale, distributed Ring-0 services that form the foundational layer of the platform.

We are looking for a passionate, quality-focused software engineer to join us and drive multiple ongoing initiatives. In this role, you will gain deep insights into how large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms operate. You will have opportunities to work and own end-to-end features - right from prototyping and developing to testing and release.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user and system requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and end-to-end development of customer scenarios.
• Maintain high quality standards across all areas - including code, testing, design and documentation.
• Proactively identify scope for improvements in the ecosystem, work with the team and stakeholders for prioritization and drive them to completion, leveraging AI wherever possible.
• An aptitude for rapid response to incidents and ensure high availability of the service.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
  

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
• OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
• OR Python
• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 1+ year(s) of familiarity with large scale distributed systems.
