Compassion, empathy, excellent communication, organisational and assessment skills are essential for the role.

The Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service was introduced to NHS Borders in 2022 and is part of a national initiative to improve the journey of patients with ‘vague but concerning symptoms, suggestive of cancer’, aiming to see, investigate and diagnose patients within 21 days of referral. Scottish Government are committed to working with Health Boards to embed rapid cancer diagnoses pathways by providing year on year funding. Current funding will be reviewed early next year and as such the post is advertised as a fixed term contract until the end of March 2026.
