What You'll Do

The Product Manager - Channel Ready Returns and DAVO will lead Avalara's Channel Ready Returns and DAVO returns products. You will manage a unique portfolio of existing products (DAVO sales tax) while partnering with the ESB General Manager to bring new returns offerings to market in the ESB space. You'll understand the ESB customer and understand their need for simple solutions. You'll partner with our Returns Product, Compliance Operations, and Returns Engineering teams to develop world class tax compliance solutions.

Job Duties

  • Work with customers to understand their needs and champion their needs across the business
  • Become an expert in your product's space, able to share knowledge about the market, the competitive landscape, and how your product will transform your customers' daily work
  • Explain a clear product strategy that synthesizes customer needs, market dynamics, and requirements to deliver great products with world-class customer experiences
  • Create prioritized roadmaps that deliver customer value by identifying new products or features that solve customer problems and automate manual processes
  • Define metrics that measure the success of products, and use these metrics to drive outcomes
  • Write epic tickets, groom the backlog, and plan sprints as your product's owner to ensure engineering execution aligns with your roadmap
  • Partner with engineering to establish delivery timelines that balance getting to market quickly with predictability and quality


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 4+ years of experience as a product manager working on multiple products with different challenges and opportunities
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (accounting, business, data science, or computer science); MBA desirable
  • Experience working on SaaS products with customer bases that span small business owners, SMB, and enterprise
  • Experience building custom reports (and queries) to solve complex reporting requirements
  • Have worked on products at multiple lifecycle stages, and with different kinds of challenges and opportunities
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, the Product Owner role, and commonly used tools such as Jira, Confluence
  • Experience building API-based products
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with design teams on UI/UX
  • Experience writing detailed product specs and documentation
