Our offerings include a wide range of data, research, and investment management services, with $300+ billion in assets under management. Operating in 32 countries, Morningstar supports financial advisors, asset managers, retirement plan providers, and more with comprehensive investment solutions.

The Role: Morningstar Sustainalytics is seeking a passionate and strategic Product Manager to lead enhancements within our ESG data platforms. In this role, you will bridge business needs and technology execution — driving innovation, streamlining ESG data collection, and ensuring platform scalability and reliability. You will define the product vision, translate user requirements into actionable plans, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver impactful outcomes that align with Morningstar’s mission of empowering investor success through sustainable data solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with business teams to define the product vision, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall objectives
  • Conduct stakeholder workshops and user interviews to gather and refine user requirements and pain points.
  • Translate requirements into user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clarity and measurable outcomes.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing business value, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines.
  • Partner with engineering, QA, and design teams in Agile ceremonies — including backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives — to ensure smooth and timely delivery.
  • Review test scenarios, coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and validate that deliverables meet user expectations and business goals.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in business workflows and data processes; recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Ensure transparent communication with stakeholders, keeping them informed of product progress, scope changes, and release impacts.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business owners and development teams, ensuring alignment and shared understanding of priorities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in Product Management, Product Ownership, or Business Analysis roles.
  • Strong understanding of data platforms, data management processes, and their business impact.
  • Proven success working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) and managing product backlogs, sprints, and release planning.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to balance diverse priorities and drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a focus on user-centric design and measurable business outcomes.
  • Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, WIKI, and related product management tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or equivalent Agile certification.
