Job description:

Job Purpose

This Position exists to assist in performing Product Design and Development tasks efficiently, in timely manner and quality standards as per the defined policies and procedures to achieve departmental operational plans and developments.

Key Accountability Areas

Product & Component Development

  • Develop concepts for new products, components, or improvements to existing designs.
  • Prepare proposals, mock-ups, and samples for management and customer approvals.
  • Prepare project charters and product development plans in coordination with stakeholders.

Design & Engineering Activities

  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies, considering mold design and die layouts.
  • Perform detailed 3D modeling and 2D drawings in SAP ECTR.
  • Create BOMs, conduct tolerance stack-up analysis, and ensure conformance of design outputs with inputs.
  • Release models and drawings for in-house manufacturing and bought-out items.

Prototype & Trial Management

  • Prepare prototypes, functional demo samples, and display boards as per design requirements.
  • Conduct prototype assembly, pilot lot production, and field trials (when applicable).
  • Support production during pilot assembly trials and preliminary product testing.

Packaging & Documentation

  • Develop packaging solutions, product leaflets, and catalogues.
  • Prepare and maintain NPD stage-gate deliverables, ensuring documentation is complete and accessible.
  • Maintain organized design storage for tested samples, competitor samples, and trial parts.

Product Lifecycle & Change Management

  • Manage product lifecycle activities, including updates and change management actions.
  • Monitor and document production trials, assembly processes, and feedback for continuous improvement.

Safety & Workplace Organization

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work atmosphere, maintaining 6S standards in the design office and storage areas.
  • Follow good safety and housekeeping practices while handling design and prototype materials.
  • Facilitate inventory checks, material arrangement, and disposal/scrapping of obsolete items.

  • Ability to obtain updated soft and technical skills related to the job.

Delivery:

  • Perform the planned activities to meet the operational and development targets as per delivery schedules.
  • Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
  • Provide a periodic report formatted by detailing the deviation and execution of planned tasks.

Problem-Solving:

  • Solve any related problems arise and escalate any complex operational issues.

Quality:

  • Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control and processes including specifications for products or processes or related activities.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automations opportunities as much as possible.

Compliance:

  • Comply to related policy and procedures and work instructions.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.
