Role Description

The Pipeline TD is responsible for developing and maintaining software tools, providing front-line support to artists, and general troubleshooting of the pipeline in a fast-paced, feature film visual effects production environment.

Primary Responsibilities And Accountabilities

• Develop pipeline and asset management tools to meet immediate, show-directed production demands, ensuring facility-wide consistency as directed by show and technical supervisors. Help maintain a wide array of existing workflows and scripts.
• Provide front-line production support across a wide range of disciplines, troubleshoot assets and shots, and help artists with general problem-solving. Monitor email requests, package up problems and redirect to the appropriate engineering team.
• This role requires experience and knowledge of 3D & 2D DCC applications and their related APIs, and maintaining and adhering to the expectations and decisions of the Studio.
• Collaborate with the Show Supervisors, and Pipeline Developers to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions that are directly related to the Studio.
• Works with the Supervisors and Leads to ensure that the project pipeline meets the needs of the Studio.
• Identify day-to-day priorities in conjunction with show supervisors; act autonomously.
• Work primarily on tools of a high degree of complexity, requiring broad understanding of the larger pipeline.
• Assist junior Pipeline TDs in providing front-line support; resolve complex user errors.
• Update documentation for the pipeline and tools to reflect any changes that are made.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in VFX/Animation/Gaming industry as a Pipeline TD or similar role.
• Proficient with Python, Maya/Pipeline-API, and experience with Git, Bash, SQL.
• Experience with production tracking systems such as Shotgun, Ftrack, and also 3D/2D Artist Tools. Also, a deep understanding of multi-platform software development, and source code management systems using Git.
• Experience with DCC pipelines such as Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and other industry-standard software.
• Knowledge of common VFX and 3D concepts, industry-standard practices, Agile development methodologies, and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
