Responsibilities
- Knowledge of general piping design, support design and 3D softwares
- Knowledge on codes (ASME B31.3 (including Fluid Service Category M), ASME NM.1, ISO 14692, ASCE 7)
- Preparation and issuance of project piping stress specifications and stress-critical line lists
- Coordination with piping and layout team
- Load transfer and coordination with the civil/structural team for support design
- Identification of stress systems through review of P&IDs and line designation tables
- In-depth Knowledge of stress analysis softwares like CAESAR II, ROHR 2 or AutoPIPE
- Preparation of stress isometrics and definition of load cases (sustained, thermal, operating, occasional – wind, seismic, relief, water hammer, etc.)
- Equipment nozzle load analysis and compliance for compressors, centrifugal pumps, tanks, heat exchangers etc.
- Expansion loop design and flexibility analysis
- Optimization of support spans and selection of support types (anchors, guides, Rigid hangers, and spring hangers)
- Flange leakage checks as per ASME codes (e.g., ASME VIII Div. 1 / B31.3)
- Review and sign-off of piping isometrics, ensuring proper flexibility and support placement
- Evaluation of local stresses using code cases WRC 107/297 for large scale WTP
- Preparation and maintenance of detailed stress analysis reports and support documentation
- Review of vendor documents for thermal nozzle loads and flexibility checks
- Participation in design reviews and checking of supplier drawings and data
- Providing technical direction and assigning work to junior engineers
- Experience across sectors including Power, Oil & Gas, Water Treatment, and Semiconductor Projects

Specialized Expertise
Water Treatment Plants
- Stress analysis for large-diameter piping systems used in water transmission lines and force mains
- Pressure surge and water hammer analysis for pumps and valve systems
- Analysis of gravity flow piping in wastewater systems (e.g., sewage, stormwater)
- Consideration of corrosion effects and material compatibility
- Analysis of nozzle loads on tanks and pump stations
- Thermal expansion analysis in outdoor water distribution systems
Double Containment Piping
- Stress analysis considering interaction between primary and secondary pipes
- Handling of pressure differentials and independent thermal movement
- Seismic, thermal, and support system design for containment piping
- Prevention of interference or over-stressing between inner and outer piping systems
Non-Metallic Piping Systems
- Stress analysis of non-metallic piping such as FRP, HDPE, PVC, PVDF, ECTFE, PP and composite systems
- Assessment of thermal and pressure behaviour under varying environmental conditions
- Fatigue and impact analysis under cyclic loading
- Evaluation of joint integrity, deflection limits, and support spacing
- Installation considerations unique to non-metallic materials
- Expertise in ROHR-II for accurate stress modelling of non-metallic piping systems
