Spotify’s Payments team is responsible for managing the growth, stability and strategic direction of Spotify’s approach to payments globally. The Payments Partnerships, Operations and Growth Optimisation team is responsible for managing today’s payments business in line with Spotify’s business goals and payment strategy. This includes managing a diverse range of partners, leading all aspects of payment operations, and optimising payments to enable Spotify’s growth ambitions and ownership of payment fees.
Reporting into the Payments Associate Director, JAPAC, you will help craft and implement a local payment strategy that will support the growth of Spotify in India.
What You'll do

The Payments Partnerships, Operations and Growth Optimisation team is responsible for managing today’s payments business in line with Spotify’s business goals and payment strategy. This includes managing a diverse range of partners, leading all aspects of payment operations, and optimising payments to enable Spotify’s growth ambitions and ownership of payment fees.
Reporting into the Payments Associate Director, JAPAC, you will help craft and implement a local payment strategy that will support the growth of Spotify in India.
What You'll do
- Lead, plan and implement a portfolio of India focused payment initiatives/projects, in line with our business goals and payments strategy.
- Play a key role in defining our Strategy for India and prioritisation of key focus areas.
- Provide local expertise and mentorship for non-premium use cases (e.g. Ads, payouts, audiobooks).
- Analyze key payment metrics and derive actionable insights to improve performance and customer experience.
- Evaluate new opportunities and payment methods that can deliver growth in India.
- Collaborate with global industry-leading payment ecosystem partners (processors, acquirers, networks, issuers, tech players) in order to deliver payment optimisation opportunities.
- Engage closely with multiple functions from technology to product, growth, finance, analytics and legal.
- Minimum of 7-9 years of relevant experience in the Indian payments space with recent knowledge of e-commerce payment processing, ideally gained in a payments role for a large e-commerce merchant or at an acquiring related business. Subscription payments experience and knowledge would be a big benefit.
- Experience working with payment regulation and advocacy in the Indian market - solid understanding of current regulatory direction and challenges for merchants like Spotify.
- Good understanding of how international merchants can operate in India covering things like; cross-border payments, taxes, data localization and local PA/PG and issuer set ups.
- You are able to speak about payments trends and consumer preferences in India.
- You have strong business analysis skills and are able to translate identified research and date into actionable insights.
- Project management skills/ collaboration skills across multiple functional areas.
- Growth mindset.
- You have a highly analytical and data-driven approach to decision making, are very meticulous when it comes to numbers, and are comfortable solving sophisticated multi-variable optimisation problems.
- You are skilled at leading and carrying out complex projects spanning multiple partners.
- You have strong influencing skills and care about building trust and credibility at all levels.
- You know how to get things done in a larger organisation where you are not always in direct control of all the resources to get the job done.
- You have a track record of interacting collaboratively with colleagues in tech and product domains.
- This role will be based in our office in Mumbai, India.
