Position Summary

The Infrastructure team at Milliman Global Corporate Services (GCS) India seeks to hire a Network Engineer. This position reports to the Manager of Infrastructure and Operations, working collaboratively with peers and team members to complete key initiatives and projects that improve the overall support, implementation, and integration of Milliman’s Infrastructure Technologies. The Network Engineer is a strong individual contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient, secure network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The position also ensures that support requests, modifications, and changes to the environment are processed and managed efficiently to meet service levels.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, servers, load balancers, VPNs, SD-WAN devices) for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure resilient and redundant network architecture; monitor performance, provide tier 2/3 support, troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures for network incidents.
  • Plan and execute maintenance, upgrades, and network expansion projects.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, standards, and security protocols.
  • Leverage monitoring tools and network automation/scripting to maintain healthy systems and infrastructure.
  • Document network configurations, changes, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (system admins, security analysts, application developers, and global IT teams) to align network solutions with business needs, ensure seamless integration, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct training sessions to build team proficiency.
  • Evaluate, select, and recommend new network technologies; stay updated with emerging networking trends.
  • Tune network topology to support compliance standards and business requirements.
  • Partner with operational teams to define service levels, support materials, processes, and escalation guidelines.
  • Maintain and enhance a catalog of services offered by the team.
  • Track work using a ticket-based system and provide metrics and input to optimize infrastructure services.
  • Collaborate with management to plan and manage budgets.
  • Apply IT best practices including ITIL, ITSM, SDLC, or other standard industry methodologies.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, work extended hours/weekends as needed, and travel domestically/internationally (up to 10–15%) for business or data center needs.

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a similar capacity (network engineering).
  • Proficiency in advanced routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS).
  • Experience with firewalls (Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco, or similar), VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and network security protocols.
  • Experience planning, deploying, and troubleshooting WAN, firewalls, LAN, DNS, VLANs, static/dynamic IP addressing, remote and point-to-point VPNs in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency in cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud network security best practices.
  • Ability to install networking equipment and work within data centers and networking closets.
  • Working knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SANs).
  • Familiarity with load balancing solutions and optimizing network traffic.
  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, communicate, and effectively work through tasks, issues, and projects.
  • Solid understanding and experience in network engineering, design, and implementation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; able to document system infrastructure and changes to the architecture.

Skills & Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with hypervisors and storage solutions.
  • Proficiency with Arista, Cisco, and Check Point firewalls/devices and software.
  • Knowledge of data center operations and maintenance, ideally with Equinix data centers.
  • Experience managing network and infrastructure at a global scale.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • AZ-700, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certifications.
