Mobile App Tester

As a Mobile App Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of mobile applications before they are released to the public. You will work closely with developers, designers, and product managers to identify and report issues, verify bug fixes, and help maintain a high standard of app performance and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and timelines.
• Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for various mobile platforms (iOS, Android).
• Define test objectives and success criteria for each testing phase.
• Conduct manual and automated testing of mobile applications to identify defects, usability issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Verify the functionality, UI/UX, and compatibility of apps on different devices and screen sizes.
• Execute regression testing to ensure that new updates do not introduce new issues.
• Document and prioritize defects, including detailed steps to reproduce issues.
• Collaborate with developers to provide clear and actionable bug reports.
• Verify and close resolved issues and retest them as needed.
• Set up and configure test devices, emulators, and simulators for testing.
• Ensure test environments are representative of the target user base.
• Maintain up-to-date test documentation, including test cases and test results.
• Report on testing progress, test coverage, and defect statistics to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using relevant tools and frameworks (e.g., Appium, XCTest, Espresso).
• Integrate automated testing into the continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
• Conduct performance testing to evaluate app responsiveness, load times, and resource utilization.
• Identify and report performance bottlenecks and recommend optimizations.
• Participate in security testing efforts to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats.
• Report security findings and work with the development team to address them.
• Collaborate closely with developers, designers, product managers, and quality assurance team members to deliver high-quality mobile applications.
• Provide feedback on usability, user experience, and overall app quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in mobile app testing, including manual and automated testing.
• Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks such as Appium, XCTest, Espresso, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
• Knowledge of mobile app development processes and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile development environment.
• Experience with performance and security testing is a plus.
• ISTQB or similar certifications are a bonus.
