SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Location: A two to three line statement outlining the objective or the reason for which the job exists.

To carry out safe berthing and un-berthing of vessels at jetty berths, single point mooring, and lift-on / lift-off jetty with the objective to manage cargo operations as per the established regulations & standards.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Responsibilities

  • Policies, Processes and Procedures
  • Assist in formulation of cargo operations plan and ensure day-to-day execution in line with function standards & regulations
  • Implement new initiatives/ projects as per established policies to meet future requirements of cargo operations
  • Provide inputs for improvements in cargo operations related processes, specifications and best practices
  • Keep abreast with state and local regulations as well as occupational hazards pertaining to operations & logistics to drive improvements in the areas of marine operations
  • Marine Operations
  • Carry out safe berthing and un-berthing of vessels at jetty berths, single point mooring (SPM), lift-on/ lift-off (LOLO)
  • Supervise all cargo operations including pre cargo transfer conference, preparing cargo and ballast operation plan, safe connection / disconnection of hoses, cargo measurement and completion of all operational documentation
  • Expedite cargo operations at SPM for faster turnaround of vessels
  • Perform periodic vessel/ tanker inspections. Inform and / or issue vessel deficiency note if required
  • Supervise crude oil washing operations during discharge of crude tankers to ensure safe operations
  • Act as on-scene commander in the event of any emergency such as an oil-spillage, exhibit incident command & control technique, and ensure mobilization of resources for emergency control and mitigation
  • Issue letters of protest on safety issues and delays arising due to equipment failure or any other related incidents
  • People Management
  • Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention/ engagement of own team
  • Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate/ appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance
  • Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities
  • Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions Policies, Processes and Procedures

SECTION IV: SUCCESS METRICS

  • Incident free pilotage operation
  • Expedite cargo operation turnaround and minimize ROB
  • Training and validation of new joined pilots, SPMO & SPMBO

Key Interactions

Internal: Marine tank farm and EPS

External: Master of vessels visiting the terminal

SECTION VI: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Education Qualifications - Master FG certificate issued by Director General Of Shipping, India
  • Experience (Must have)
  • 2-3 years of work experience of pilotage in handling VLCC at SPMs, Aframax at Jetty berths, tanker (Oil/ Chemical/ Gas)
  • FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of MARPOL, SOLAS, DGS, and MS act
  • Knowledge of statutory requirement of tanker operations
  • Pilotage skill
  • Port operations (including knowledge about tug operations)
  • Experience (Good to have)
