Job Description Summary

As member of Service engineering team, the service lead turbine engineer is responsible for tendering and execution of complete retrofit projects as a lead of Turbine mechanical design, being responsible for key deliverables and timely execution of projects. Services turbine engineer provides technical support to customer from tendering to project execution and after warranty period, mainly on transactional projects, including maintenance and repairs, condition assessments and spares parts.Services turbine lead engineer is responsible for coordination with Product Management, Technology, CoEs, Supply Chain, construction and commissioning and Project Office functions, to guarantee that the technical choice is made to ensure the performance of the product is in line with the customer requirements and with philosophy of safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC).

Job Description

  • Be a “single technical face” to the customer - Technical co-ordination and follow-up with the customer or / and internal functions or external partner for complete rehabilitation projects and spare parts involvement from tender (ITO) to execution (OTR) including design
  • Responsible for analyzing qualitative and quantitative technical and commercial information on the project, including technical specifications, proposals, reference designs, and other sources of information necessary for the preparation of the project to comply with such requirements;
  • Responsible to propose and execute technical solutions for customers, considering the combined knowledge of hydraulic turbines components basic design, analytical structural analysis, manufacturing technologies, refurbishment technologies and non-destructive test methodologies and results interpretation;
  • Conduct site condition assessment and audit of the existing generator on the unit to support customers on maintenance and repairs operations or before disassembly at site
  • Capacity to interpret and understand old non-OEM design and translate and adapt GEV Hydro technology to the project requirements;
  • Prioritize, plan and execute tasks when executing own work packages for multiple projects in parallel;
  • Responsible for developing, verify, approve and control the technical documents such as drawings, bill of materials, technical specifications, manuals and other contractual technical documents as necessary applying GEV and industry processes and standards, with the mindset Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost;
  • Manage and lead design cross-functional reviews (conceptual, basic and detail);
  • Work cross functionally with manufacturing engineers, quality team, sourcing, suppliers, construction and commissioning team to improve product quality and first time yield;
  • Support manufacturing, sourcing and construction and commissioning to problem resolution defining necessary corrective plan inside the business metrics;
  • Propose additional works recommendations upon dismantling and inspections of existing components
  • Conduct site visits during critical phases of the project
  • Participate and support complete technical root cause analysis of failures to identify necessary preventive actions in order to avoid issue recurrence;
  • Drive lessons learned, best practices and standardization into drawings, specifications, design practices and processes;
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement, cost saving ideas and strategies.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with minimum of 5 years experience in design of mechanical components
  • Skilled in CAD software (AutoCad and NX) and RLPM system;
  • Good mechanical engineering background is fundamental;
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials, metallurgy and welding processes;
  • Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills; ability to assess situations and make judgements based on practice or previous experience;
  • Structured and independent working style;
  • Ability to deliver results in an uncertainty scenario
  • Ability to travel regularly in India neighbor countries to provide support in front of the customer during meetings and site visits.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills in English language.
