Job Duties
A thorough understanding of steel detailing and strong math skills. Spatial visualization awareness and a decent understanding of industry business practices in detailing, engineering and fabrication. The willingness to develop knowledge relevant to the structural steel industry. Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal. Possesses excellent people skills, is a good communicator, and a motivational leader. You are proactive and a logical thinker who takes initiative to solve problems early. You are capable of performing your duties with a minimal amount of supervision.

- Complying with the requirement of design drawings
- Responsible for producing shop and erection drawings
- Ensuring industry standards are being held
- Responsible for being familiar with engineering codes
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge in basic drafting standards and principles
- Editing and cleaning 2-D drawings in Tekla and AutoCAD
- Responsible for basic 3-D Project Modelling
- Performing CAD drawings in a manner which adheres to accepted Fabrication practices and standards
- Executing CAD drafting tasks effectively and promptly
- Applying and developing 2D and 3D CAD skills in the creating, conveying or extraction of information related to project work.
- Reading and interpreting design drawings, project and client specifications
- Working as a member of the detailing group to ensure packages are issued per client expectations and schedule
- Supporting and mentoring Junior Detailers
- Assisting with detailing operations
- Checking and verifying design drawing to conform to specifications and design data

- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a steel detailer
- Tekla 2 years minimum ( or similar 3D CAD software)
- Design fundamentals
- Dowco Connections Design Course
- Level 1: Dowco Connections Design Course, Dowco Processes Exam, Time Estimating Management Training (Schedule Awareness and EVM Basics) and Tekla Evaluation
- Level 2: BIM Part One Course, Cross Cultural Communications Training and Tekla Evaluation
- Level 3: NISD Detailing Class II (or approved equivalent by the Quality Assurance Manager) and Tekla Evaluation (5 years’ experience)
