Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to lead the R&D division focused on the development and optimization of advanced lithium-ion battery systems for energy storage and diverse applications. This role covers development of Battery Management Systems (BMS), Thermal Management Systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
Reports To: General Manager / Chief Operating Officer
Key Responsibilities
R&D Division Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary R&D team focused on lithium-ion battery systems and related technologies.
- Develop R&D strategies that support business goals, innovation, and industry best practices.
- Manage R&D projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Establish a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
Product Development
- Oversee the design, prototyping, and validation of battery packs, modules, and complete energy storage solutions.
- Lead the development and integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) to maximize safety, performance, and reliability.
- Drive research and implementation of advanced thermal management strategies for battery systems.
- Manage the development and system integration of Power Conversion Systems (PCS), BESS, and EMS for grid, commercial, and other applications.
- Evaluate and adopt the latest technologies in battery packs, system architecture, and energy management.
- Scale up laboratory or pilot innovations into commercial manufacturing and deployment
Process & Performance Optimization
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure pack/system manufacturability and maintain high standards.
- Optimize cost, efficiency, and lifecycle performance of new and existing products.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for field and client issues, driving corrective and preventive actions.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of technical documentation including specs, validation plans, test protocols, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, UL, BIS) relevant to battery systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor / Masters degree in Electrical, Electrochemical, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in lithium-ion battery pack/system design, BMS/thermal/PCS/BESS/EMS development, and commercial deployment.
- Proven record of leading R&D teams and successful product launches involving energy storage systems.
- Innovative mindset
Hands-on expertise with:
- Battery pack and system design (modularization, safety, compliance)
- BMS and system integration
- Thermal management techniques (air, liquid, PCM)
- PCS and large-scale BESS/EMS implementation
- In-depth knowledge of global battery safety, testing, and system integration standards.
- Strong project management, communication, and team leadership skills.
