Main Purpose Of Job
We are looking for a dynamic, high-calibre colleague to join an experienced team that leads on the India- UK inward investment relationship. The UK is a preferred inward investment destination for Indian companies- we need a colleague who will help us retain this position and also play a key role in the development of our future strategy.
Role
Your role will be to coordinate DBT’s Inward Investment operations in Western India working closely with the Investment leadership team including:
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
2/3 HEO officers (directly/ indirectly)

The British High Commission Network in India provides ample L&D opportunities to its staff to grow in their professional journey. The 70/20/10 learning, and development model is applied, with both internal and formal opportunities readily available.
In addition, DBT team provides opportunity for sector specific ‘developing skills & knowledge’ training to increase understanding of the UK market.
Working Patterns
The Network allows you to work from home for one day per week. So, one day within a five-day working week can be spent at home (if desired and subject to business requirements), while the other four must be spent in the office, travelling with work, or in meetings outside the office.

Role
Your role will be to coordinate DBT’s Inward Investment operations in Western India working closely with the Investment leadership team including:
- promoting the UK as the ideal destination for inward investment to Indian companies in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Madhya Pradesh
- coordinating key account management of important Indian businesses working closely with the Investment leadership team
- acting as a co-ordinator across Western India in driving high value investment projects towards achieving national inward investment targets
- working with colleagues to drive lead generation of investment projects with a specific focus on Tier 2 cities in Gujarat, wider Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.
- coordinating with the Deputy High Commissioners in the region, the DBT Senior Management Team and HQ on important Ministerial Visits and strategic priorities.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Investment Success (30%): To ensure a strong contribution of investment wins from Western India is delivered and that a healthy pipeline of future investment projects is developed. You will be responsible for delivery against some challenging targets including sectoral and strategic priorities such as Net Zero, Regional Growth and encouraging research and development.
- Strategic Relationship Management (20%): To develop and maintain relationships with significant existing investors in the region with an objective of delivering high impact inward investment.
- People (20%): Line management responsibilities are a critical part of this role.
- Events and Visits (15%): In coordination with the marketing/events team and Investment leadership team, develop a coordinated engagement plan for Tier 2 locations in Western India with the objective to deliver high impact investment wins. Plan and support more outreach to potential/ existing investors from Tier 2 cities in the region in line with strategic priorities. Support all visits from UK including Ministers, Senior Diplomats, Delegations etc. Prepare briefing documents and support logistical arrangements wherever required.
- Investment delivery (15%): Encourage and support potential investors to set up in the UK/ existing investors to expand their operations. Build strong links to, and work in partnership with, the UK Government’s investment partners and multipliers in India and the UK (regions, HQ, commercial partners) to ensure investors are provided with a seamless end-to-end service which consistently leads to investment successes in the UK. Use case studies to encourage more investments.
