Job Purpose

To plan, organize and direct the functioning of Airport Rescue and Firefighting Service to provide required level of fire protection (Airport category 9/10) to ensure uninterrupted aircraft operations as per statutory requirement. To assure safety to life and property in various airport buildings and facilities from fire and other emergencies in compliance with statutory regulations and safe practices. To coordinate & review the Aerodrome Emergency Plan of RGIA for accomplishing effective management of emergencies.

To ensure smooth ARFF operations, compliance to DGCA CAR & ICAO recommendations related to Rescue & FF. Anticipate all the requirements of ARFF in advance and prepare the AOP of ARFF in time and get is approved by competent authority. Ensure that all the buildings of IGIA comply with the legal and other requirements. Conduct investigation of all major fires in the airport and recommend plans/recommendation for non-recurrence of the same. Prepare the recruitment JD of various cadres of ARFF with respect to the job. Carryout periodical task resource analysis and recommend review the manpower requirement. Keep good liaison with the government and other agencies for improving the fire safety of the airport. Implement all quality measures adopted by the organization. Ensure a well-organized succession plan in place with a foresight to handle all anticipated casualties. Develop measures to reduce the expenditure without compromising the quality of fire safety measures. To design, develop & implement Firefighting and evacuation strategy for IGI Airport and DIAL Utility Building aligned with all the mandatory regulation /requirement of NBC, DGCA and ICAO and Local Regulatory authorities in order to minimize the incident and safety of human life.

Adhering to AOP

Comply with all the National and International Standards related to fire at IGI Airport. No of non-compliance

Initiate projects like BLIP, Kaizen, 5S, CIP to improve operational efficiency and cost containment related to ARFF activities. No. of project undertaken

Keep constant liaison with Local regulatory authorities, stakeholders for required assistance and certification of Buildings. No. of structured meetings

Delhi Police/Traffic Police: Law & Order and Traffic control during emergencies,

AAI: For Technical training

Hospitals: For extending medical facility during emergencies.

Ambulance providers: Respond during emergencies to carry the patients to the hospitals.

P&E: Upkeep and maintenance of all FDS & FPS.

IT: For information & communication facility

TMT: For repair & Maint of Fire appliances & equipment.

AOCC: Coordination for flow of information to handle emergencies

Finance: Timely payment to vendors

Procurement & Contracts: Fast and smooth procurement.

Other DIAL Departments: For assistance during Emergency as per DAEP

Terminal Operations & Airside Management: For coordination and assistance during aircraft and building emergencies

DIAL Security: Coordination for access control system,

Monitoring the fire control systems to avoid unlawful interference.

DIAL Training Department: For arranging behavioral & personality development training.

GMRAA: For technical training

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate preferably in science
  • BE/MI Fire/Senior Fire Officer course from any Aviation Institute


Medical First Aid certified

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 30 years in fire service with 10 years in Managerial cadre in Aviation fire fighting


5 Year minimum experience as Ops commander in CAT 9/10 Airport
