Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS laws, rules, and regulations (GPCB, CPCB, Factories Act, etc.).
Maintain statutory records, permits, licenses (Consent to Operate, Hazardous Waste, etc.).
Prepare and submit mandatory returns and reports to government authorities.
Safety Management
Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments (Job Safety Analysis, HIRA, etc.).
Monitor implementation of safety measures and safe work practices.
Investigate accidents/incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Training & Awareness
Organize EHS training programs, tool-box talks, and awareness sessions for workers and staff.
Maintain training records and evaluate effectiveness of EHS training programs.
Environmental Management
Monitor effluent treatment plants (ETP/STP), air emissions, noise levels, and waste disposal practices.
Ensure implementation of environmental management systems (ISO 14001, etc.).
Promote sustainability initiatives such as water conservation, waste minimization, and energy efficiency.
Emergency Preparedness
Develop and periodically review emergency response plans.
Conduct emergency drills (fire, chemical spill, etc.) and evaluate readiness of response teams.
Contractor Safety
Monitor and ensure contractor compliance with site safety requirements.
Carry out induction and periodic training for contract workers.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: B.Sc./M.Sc. in Environmental Science / Chemistry or Diploma/Degree in Engineering with Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (recognized by the Govt. of Gujarat / DGFASLI).
Experience: 3 to 6 years in EHS roles within manufacturing industries (chemical, pharma, engineering, or FMCG preferred).
Knowledge of: Gujarat Factory Rules, GPCB norms, ISO 45001/14001 systems, HIRA, Safety Audits, Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, training delivery, problem-solving, and report writing.
IT Proficiency: MS Office, EHS Management Software (if any).
Desirable Attributes
Proactive and hands-on approach to safety.
Ability to influence and engage shop floor employees.
Commitment to continuous improvement and EHS culture building.
