Job Mission

Your mission is to accelerate new product development for underground mining products and sustain existing products through continuous product improvements in respective area.

Job Description

• Design and develop different mechanical components / systems of Underground mining products.
• Generate concepts, perform engineering calculations and make detailed design.
• Work on continuous improvement of products and participate in sustenance activities.
• Preparation of 2D drawings and 3D models, general arrangement drawings, documentation schematics and test reports as required, releasing of BOM in PLM.
• Participate in verification and validation process of design.
• Analyses Customer needs, determining modifications or designs needed to fulfil requirements for Equipment. Design functional Equipment that meets customer needs.
• Conduct competitor product analysis as needed.
• Work closely with divisions and engineering center on need basis.
• Resolve problems and answer questions of other departments concerning Drawings.
• Take field trips to job sites to make field measurements and/or observe.
• Follow best practices, mining standards, design procedures, instructions, and standards.
• Conduct peer reviews of other engineers' design to ensure that they are completed to a high standard and in accordance with company and industry standards.
• Maintain and nurture effective communication with all the stakeholders.
• Engage self in continuous learning and sharing knowledge with the team.
• Reporting to the Manager\Project Leader in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure following of Epiroc policies, values and adhere to business code of practice.
• Any other duties/responsibilities assigned by team leader.
  
  

Competences, skills and experience - What critical competences, skills and experience is required for a candidate to be successful in this position?

• Bachelor's / master's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 4-7 years of experience in Mechanical components / system design and development for mobile equipment's. Underground mining products design knowledge is added advantage.
• Validated experience in mobile equipment structural component design. Knowledge of powertrain component and system is added advantage.
• Hands on experience in CREO or equivalent design software. Knowledge of PLM, PDM added advantage.
• Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DFM and DFA. Design to cost.
• Outstanding analytical abilities with a determined approach.
• Excellent Communication skills (Verbal and Written).
• Ability to deliver effective and innovative solutions.
