JOB DESCRIPTION
Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Lead implementation of PSM elements in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119.
- Develop and implement PSM standards
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) such as HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Ensure timely closure of risk mitigation and PHA recommendations.
- Manage safety reviews for new projects, process changes, and scale-ups.
- Maintain and audit Mechanical Integrity programs for critical equipment.
- Lead root cause investigations for process safety incidents (e.g., fires, explosions, chemical releases)
- Conduct PSM/EHS training and awareness programs
- Facilitate periodic PSM & EHS audits, risk assessments, and inspections.
- Maintain documentation of process safety
- Understanding of chemical/process engineering, Equipment safety
- Working knowledge of Process Safety Lab DSC, RC, TSu & Powder safety study with Hazop.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials and their engineering controls.
- Familiarity with international safety standards (e.g., NFPA, API, IEC 61511).
- Leadership in risk-based decision making.
- Support EHS Corporate Head for Process Safety & EHS related activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for compliance & initiatives.
- Work with design teams to incorporate inherently safer design principles.
- Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, and process flow diagrams for safety risks.
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Preferred Certification: CSP / PSM / OSHA 30-Hour / PDIS
- Experience: 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with strong exposure to process safety systems & management.
- In-depth knowledge of process chemistry, hazardous chemical handling, and fire/explosion prevention strategies
