As a SAS SaaS Opserations Cloud Engineer you will work with cross-functional teams and technical leaders across SAS including R&D, Technical Support, and Customer Success to innovate, operate, and automate SAS’s Software as a Service offerings. You will partner with SaaS development teams to integrate the operator experience into the development cycle to improve reliability and reduce operational costs. You will be responsible for daily operations, release support, and observability for SaaS offers. Using ITSM approaches, you will manage change, respond to incidents, and proactively manage events to meet SLA requirements and provide a positive customer experience with SAS’s SaaS products. You will work with internal SAS information security and compliance teams to ensure that the SaaS offering all regulatory requirements and customer data is protected and secure.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational support for SaaS offers, responding to incidents, executing changes, and deploying updates
• Collaborate with SAS R&D through the definition, documentation, and clear communication of SaaS operator requirements driving software enhancements, reduction of manual toil, and lower operational costs
• Manage the customer lifecycle from initial deployment, onboarding, upgrades, and off-boarding
• Innovate using automation, tooling, or scripting in Azure environments to deliver improvements in availability, scalability, and cloud infrastructure provisioning
• Perform Root Cause Analysis collaboratively with SAS R&D in support of problem management
• Integrate Azure cloud services into SaaS offerings to increase the value of the service and reduce costs
• Participate in on-call rotational assignments.
  
  

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in supporting customer facing cloud environments, hosting services, highly available, resilient applications and/or related activities.
• 2+ years of experience in a scripting or software development language such as Python, Groovy, Bash, Ruby, Perl, Java, Go, Camel.
• Understanding of web-based systems and the concepts behind cloud solutions.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or similar cloud products and infrastructure.
• Understanding of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Adept at working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proactive, self-directed, detail-oriented, independent worker with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Passion for continuous learning and mastering computer-related technologies
  
  

Preferences

• Experience working in a DevOps model and Agile development methodology
• Experience working in a globally dispersed team and with globally deployed products
• Familiarity with the software development processes and approaches
• Familiarity with ITSM processes, systems, and tools such as ServiceNow and JIRA.
• Familiarity or experience with SAS products or solutions
