Buyside credit modelling - Research Analyst

Job Description/summary:

We are seeking a Research Analyst to support our global buy-side credit research team. The successful candidate will build, update and maintain financial models, earnings coverage, support fundamental credit analysis, and engage with client teams to provide high-quality research outcomes.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Support a global buy side credit research team

• Building and updating financial models including KPI based projections, writing initiations, identifying key risks and mitigants.
• Tracking earnings for assigned coverage, draft concise earning notes as new financial data is available
• Carry out in-depth credit analysis of companies under coverage, including business, financial, and peer analysis, building capital structure and preparing credit reports (annual/quarterly reviews).
• The role requires regular surveillance of the assigned portfolio by proactively tracking the company events (including quarterly earnings, rating & outlook updates, regulatory updates) and other industry information sources.
• Quickly develop an understanding of the operating and financial metrics relevant for any new sector in coverage.
• Engage with client teams proactively and independently. Suggest and discuss new ideas on fine-tuning models and improving research outcome and processes.
• Knowledge of data sources such as Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ would be an added advantage.

FUNCTIONAL & BEHAVIOURAL KNOWLEDGE

• Strong understanding of credit principles, credit review/appraisal, credit rating, report writing, capital structure, ratio analysis.
• Proficient in financial modelling, with experience in building and maintaining complex financial models
• Proven experience across multiple industries/sectors; knowledge of Fin Tech sector will be an added advantage
• Detail-oriented, with a keen interest in financial markets. Keen interest to take a deep dive into credit analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with clients through mails and over calls.
• Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to think and work independently.

MINIMUM & PREFERRED EDUCATION

• MBA (Finance) from reputed institute / CA / CFA is essential
• Progress towards CFA (US) would be preferred

MINIMUM & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

• Prior experience of minimum 2-5 years in credit research/analysis.
