Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic and visionary Billing Director to lead our global billing operations and revenue reporting strategy. This role will oversee regional billing teams, drive process excellence, and ensure compliance across all billing functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep financial expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for building scalable systems in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership

Define and execute the global billing and revenue reporting strategy in alignment with company goals.

Lead and mentor regional billing managers and teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Set and monitor KPIs to measure billing efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

  • Operational Excellence

Oversee end-to-end billing operations across geographies, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.

Drive automation and system enhancements to streamline billing workflows and reduce manual effort.

Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes and revenue reporting.

  • Compliance & Risk Management

Develop and enforce global billing policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements (e.g., GST, VAT).

Lead audit readiness efforts, providing documentation and analysis for internal and external audits.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Sales, Legal, Product, and Finance teams to align billing processes with evolving business models and customer contracts.

Support pricing strategy, contract structuring, and revenue forecasting initiatives.

  • Technology & Innovation

Champion the implementation of advanced billing systems and ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite), ensuring scalability and integration with other financial systems.

Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance billing accuracy and reporting capabilities.

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting

Provide strategic insights into revenue trends, billing performance, and customer payment behaviors.

Present high-level reporting and recommendations to executive leadership and board stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA/CA/CPA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing billing or revenue operations.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving operational transformation.
  • Deep understanding of revenue recognition, billing systems, and financial compliance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, global, and high-growth environment.
